WAYNE DE WET ROAD SHOW TO LOWESTOFT COLLEGE - JAN 2014
Multiple award winning Decorator Wayne De Wet took a pilot Road Show to Lowestoft College, Suffolk, UK to demonstrate a range of new and innovative products in the market. The painting and decorating students over there were very impressive with promising talents and they got an opportunity to know about the best products available in the industry like Saffron's ADORN® and AXIS® products. Saffron also gave away ADORN® and AXIS® goodies to the budding decorators of the United Kingdom.
Wayne said: “being able to show painting & decorating students, who are our countries future, what's new in the industry, is very dear to me. I came up with the idea of a Demo day to show case the very best of what I use in my everyday work, the passion to learn was very evident from the students. I see quite a few that already are exhibiting the makings of first class tradespeople. The pilot day was a massive success”
The students also saw how walls and areas can be transformed with a specialist system which uses sprayed on flecks of colour which can also include glitter. The Ilumitex system was demonstrated by Wayne & Roger Pittaway.
Roger has used the technique to bring a bit of glitz and glamour to a range of surfaces, including the homes of the rich and famous as well as disco floors, night clubs and football clubs.
The students even had the chance to boost their tool kits with a competition to win up to £250 of decorating-related goodies. Robert Gladwin and Ricky Hardy were the lucky winners of the prizes from the many companies that Wayne de Wet works with,
These include:
Dunlop Pro Decor, Trimaco, Big Wipes, Coleman Bros, Picasso, AdornSaffron, Mirka, Attamark, Hildering, EcoSolutions, & Kovrd.
Kevyn Stow, Painting and Decorating lecturer at Lowestoft College, said: “It’s important for our students to meet a range of people from the industry and learn some of the more unusual techniques used within the profession. As well as picking up some useful hints and tips, it gives them a better understanding of just how diverse a career within the industry can be.”
